Welcome to Parenting the Big Kids

I've moved over here from my Laura Cleary Parent Coach blog, to reflect my broader focus of parent education through community workshops and, coming soon, my online parenting class. My focus remains on supporting parents through the challenges and joys of parenting during this transition time- when your child is figuring out their identity and finding their own way towards adulthood. It's a beautiful, wonderful, messy parenting journey through these 'growing up' years. In some ways parenting teens is similar to parenting toddlers: setting limits while also encouraging exploration, staying connected while also allowing space for disagreement, and creating a safe and calm home space while also gently pushing him/her out into the world. I hope you will stay connected as I offer guidance, skill building and perspectives.
